Inspectors find mold, roof caving in at Ohio mall

NORTHWOOD, Ohio (AP) — Officials have found mold, no heat and a roof that’s leaking and caving in at an Ohio shopping mall. They’ll decide whether to seek a court order to shut the place down.

Inspectors who went through the nearly vacant Woodville Mall near Toledo on Monday then handed out packets to a dozen tenants with advice on where to move if the mall closes.

Law director Brian Ballenger in the community of Northwood tells The Blade of Toledo the county prosecutor’s office could seek an injunction later this week to shutter the complex, built in 1969. Two large anchor stores would remain open.

The New York real estate investor who owns the mall did not return messages for comment.
