Ill. student dies from fall at Ohio state park

LOGAN, Ohio (AP) — A man who fell to his death in an Ohio park has been identified as a student from Illinois who had met up with a high school girlfriend and her family.

Hocking County Coroner Dr. Dave Cummin said today that 18-year-old Purdue University honors student William Beinlich died Sunday from a head injury.

Hocking Hills State Park Manager Chris Grupenhof tells the Logan Daily News the teen from Gurnee, Ill., wandered off a trail and slipped, tumbling 60 feet into a shallow pool at a waterfall.

Beinlich was pronounced dead at the scene.

The coroner says the park was a mid-point for Beinlich and for the young woman and her family, who had moved from Illinois to Virginia.
