Flower show is a blue-ribbon event


YOUNGSTOWN

The annual holiday flower show and luncheon of Garden Forum of the Greater Youngstown Area took place recently at the Davis Center in Fellows Riverside Gardens at Mill Creek Park.

Barb Helaney, master judge and flower arranger from Canton, was the guest speaker at the event, which followed a “Home for the Holidays” theme.

The chairwomen for the show were Beverly Patrick and Rose Marie Roth. Judges were Sheila Bowman, Joyce Dunbar and Dianna Mullins.

Blue ribbons in design were awarded to Patrick (Ikebana) and Dunbar, Mary Lou Flere and Pearl Marlos (all Gleaners).

Horticulture blue ribbons went to Mullins and Martha Murphy (Nature Lovers), Dan Burns and Patrick (Ikebana), Sally Foster (Trailwood), Mary Schall (Austintown, Marlos and Flere (Gleaners) and Peggy Potts (Johnny Appleseed).

The Special Award in Design went to Patrick for her use of deer antlers, and the Special Award in Horticulture went to Mullins for a display of Sansevieria.
