Father recalls wife, children killed by jet crash
SAN DIEGO (AP) — A man still distraught three years after a military jet plowed into his home and killed his wife and children says he only looks forward to his own death so he can be reunited with them.
Don Yoon struggled to speak through his tears Tuesday during a federal trial to determine how much money the U.S. government should pay to compensate him and his extended family for the 2008 accident that the military acknowledged was caused by multiple mistakes.
Tuesday marked three years to the day since Yoon buried his 36-year-old wife and their two baby girls in a single casket.
The case is unusual in that the government has conceded liability but is disputing in court how much should be paid. A federal judge will have the final say.
