Crash victims ID’d

The Mahoning County Coroner’s Office has identified the two people killed in a Salem car accident Sunday.

Michael R. Walter, 34, of Beaver Falls, Pa., and Carie Ann Harris, 33, of Columbiana, were killed when the car they were in failed to properly yield on state Route 45 at state Route 165 and was hit by a tractor-trailer, sending the car into a ditch.

Walter and Harris were both wearing safety belts at the time of the accident, said the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Living Nativity

Shepherd of the Valley-Poland, 301 W. Western Reserve Road, Poland, will celebrate the Christmas season with a multigenerational presentation of a living Nativity at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Staff and residents portray Mary, Joseph, angels and shepherds. The livestock are played by the children of the staff.

Sign-ups for toys

The Warren Family Mission has started sign-ups for its annual Christmas toy giveaway. The sign-ups continue from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the mission’s 361 Elm Road location. The mission will accept new, unwrapped toys for children newborn to 16 years old this week.

Suspect arrested

Police arrested a 28-year-old Struthers man on a robbery warrant Monday.

Christopher Karis is accused of robbing the Home Depot on Southern Boulevard Saturday, police said. Reports state a man was caught shoplifting and fought with a security guard before entering a getaway car. The car was involved with a hit-skip accident near Meadowbrook Avenue, and vehicle’s driver, Brittany Bachani, 21, was arrested Saturday in Youngstown and charged with complicity to robbery.
