Dr. Marie Linda Awad and Atty. Louis Peter Alexander Jr., both of Pittsburgh, were united in marriage Aug. 13 at St. Maron Church. The afternoon ceremony was solemnized by the Monsignors Assad Awad, uncle of the bride, and Michael Kail. The couple received congratulations during an evening reception at the Maronite Center.

The bride’s parents are Dr. Mounir and Linda Awad of Canfield. The groom is the son of Norma Alexander of Youngstown and the late Dr. Louis Alexander Sr.

The bride’s ivory silk gown featured a strapless dropped waist bodice and a cathedral train adorned with pearls, Swarovsky crystals and silver embroidery.

Attending the bride were her sisters, Jeanine Awad and Michele Awad, maids of honor; and Diana Awad-Scrocco, matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Sheena Dohar and Cassandra Dohar, cousins of the bride; Gina Alexander and Dr. Theresa Alexander, sisters-in-law of the groom; and Leslie Becker. Juliette Palusak, cousin of the bride, was a junior bridesmaid. The attendants wore garnet-colored satin gowns. Wearing ivory dresses with red sashes were flower girls Jaqueline and Jillian Palusak, cousins of the bride.

Sharing the duties of best man were Dr. Kelly Alexander, Michael Alexander and Joseph Alexander, brothers of the groom. Groomsmen were Atty. Marty Desmond and John Desmond, cousins of the groom; Dr. John David Scrocco, brother-in-law of the bride; Michael Dohar III, cousin of the bride; and John Scott. Serving as ring bearers were James and Sean Alexander, the groom’s nephews.

The bride, who will use the name Dr. Marie Awad-Alexander, earned a bachelor’s degree in combined sciences from Youngstown State University. She received a doctor of medicine degree from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine and is a chief resident in general surgery at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Atty. Alexander graduated from Miami University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, and he earned his juris doctorate and MBA from Cleveland Marshall College of Law. He is employed by Blumling & Gusky, LLP, in Pittsburgh.

After a wedding trip to Aruba the couple reside in Pittsburgh.
