YMTA awards annual music scholarships

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown Music Teachers’ Association met for its annual scholarship competition Dec. 3.

Various members heard 13 junior and senior music majors from Youngstown State University’s Dana School of Music perform a wide variety of compositions.

The winners follow: YMTA Scholarships were awarded to Mark Higgins, saxophone, and Bill Klein, piano; scholarships donated by past president Cynthia Evans went to Lauren Corcoran, soprano, and Heidi Keener, flute; and the scholarship donated by past president Audrey Rhinehart went to Sean Baran, piano.

Higgins and Klein will be featured at YMTA Butler Art Honors recitals Feb. 26 and March 25.
