Mount Union advances to seventh straight Division III final

ALLIANCE — Matt Piloto threw four touchdown passes to lead Mount Union past Wesley, 28-21 today — and into its 15th Division III championship game.

The No. 2 Purple Raiders (14-0) will play in the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl for the seventh consecutive year, facing either defending champion Wisconsin-Whitewater or St. Thomas (Minn.).

Wesley (12-2) led at halftime 14-13, but fumbled on its first two possessions of the second half. Mount Union turned both into scores and a 28-14 lead. Mount Union, in the playoffs for the 23rd straight season, is seeking its 11th national title, and its first since beating Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2008.
