In Mahoning Valley, new-car sales increase

YOUNGSTOWN
New-car sales in the Mahoning Valley increased 4 percent in November, according to statistics released Friday by the Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio.
Sales of new cars rose from 1,677 in November 2010 to 1,752.
Overall new-car sales through 11 months of 2011 are up nearly 27 percent compared with the same period in 2010.
The Lordstown-built Chevrolet Cruze was the best-selling new car for the second-consecutive month.
Dealers sold 116 Cruzes, 83 Chevrolet Silverados and 75 Chevrolet Malibus.
Sales of the Ford Escape and Ford F-150 totaled 74 and 73 in November, respectively.
The Cruze leads the Malibu in year-to-date sales, 1,898 to 1,838.
Taylor Kia, 7975 Market St., Boardman, led all dealers in new-car sales with 113.
Greenwood Chevrolet, 4695 Mahoning Ave. Austintown, placed second with 104.
Fairway Ford Mercury, 366 W. Main St., Canfield, finished in third place with 92 new-car sales.
Used-car sales are on pace with last year’s figures.
Greenwood Chevrolet sold 115 used cars in November, the most of any dealer. Stadium GM Superstore, 214 W. State St., Salem, sold 93, and Taylor Kia sold 92.
The most popular used car was the Chevrolet Malibu. Dealers sold 105 Malibus.
