Pee Wee Phantoms get home victory at Ice Zone
The Youngstown Phantoms Pee Wee team earned a home victory and salvaged a tie on the road last weekend in league play. Both games were against the Pittsburgh Predators.
On Saturday, the squad shook off the rust from the Thanksgiving holiday to score a 2-1 win over the Predators at the Ice Zone in Boardman.
The triumph came after falling behind 1-0 when the Predators scored with 4:19 remaining in the second period. The Phantoms answered that goal at 1:03 in the period when Trey Imhoff scored his fourth goal of the season off a pass from Devin Whitaker (Boardman).
The game remained tied at 1-all for most the third period until Bo Gray (Boardman) gave the Phantoms the 2-1 lead with only 50 seconds remaining in the game.
The Predators pulled their goalie and had a scoring attempt with one second remaining, but goalie Colin Frost (Boardman) sealed the win with a glove save.
On Sunday, the team traveled to the Ice Castle in Pittsburgh to face the Predators again.
The Phantoms scored 22 seconds into the game when Colin Faloon (Austintown) stole the puck and raced the entire length of the ice burying the puck.
The Predators evened the score less than two minutes later.
The Phantoms got their final score of the game with 5:58 remaining in the first period after Mike Fetsko (Boardman) scored off a pass from Devin Whitaker (Boardman).
