Heaven wins two events to lead Canfield swim team

Sarah Heaven won two individual events and was part of two place winning relay squads, as the Canfield girls swim team began the 2011-12 season with a quad meet last Saturday at YSU.

The Cards (109) competed against Boardman (181), Wooster (152) and Warren Harding (103).

Sparking Canfield was Heaven, who claimed wins in the 200-yard Individual Medley and 100-yard back stroke. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, she teamed with Leslie Davis, Mallory Allen and Olivia Williamson to take second. The quartet of Heaven, Williamson, Allen and Jamie Wellham teamed up to take third in the 200-yard medley relay.

Other Cards finishing in the top three in their respective events were Allen, second in the 100 butterfly, Williamson, third i the 100 backstroke and Ally Chiu, third in diving.

In the boys meet, Canfield scored 150 points to top Wooster (149), Warren Harding (136) and Boardman (105). Daniel Bogen placed in four events, including third in the 200-yard free and the 100 backstroke.

Bogen, Michael DiDomenico, Nicky Montalto and Mark Dalvin won the 400-yard free relay, while Bogen, Connor Brady, DiDomenico and Montalto were second in the 200 free relay.

Earning victories in individual events for Canfield were Drew Bennett (500 free), Brady (100 butterfly) and Montalto (100 free). Montalto took third second in the 200 free, while Dalvin was third in the 50 free and 100 free.
