Holiday light display

The Trumbull Junior Fair Board will offer horse-drawn carriage rides to view a holiday light display at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds, 899 Everett-Hull Road, Bazetta Township, from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Hot chocolate and other treats will be available. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for senior citizens, $2 for children 4 to 12 and free for children 3 and younger.

Free movie

Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District kicks off its 2011-12 Trumbull SWCD Movie Night series with a free movie about Yogi Bear.

It will be at 6:30 p.m. today at the Trumbull County Agriculture and Family Education Center, 520 W. Main St., Cortland.

In the movie, the park is in danger of closing due to lack of visitors. It’s a PG-rated family movie that runs 82 minutes.

Trumbull SWCD is trying to raise awareness about the importance of getting children outside for recreation. Information on local parks and wildlife, including Ohio’s bears, will be available at the event. For more infortmation or to register, call 330-637-2056, ext. 111.

Veterans sale

Volunteers at the Youngstown VA Outpatient Clinic, 2031 Belmont Ave., Youngstown, are planning a trash-and-treasure sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today. There also will be a bake sale. All veterans, families and friends are invited. Donations for both sales will be accepted the day of the sale. Clothing cannot be accepted at this time.

Wine show

Mahoning Valley Wine and Food Club will have its holiday wine show and sale beginning at 7 p.m. today in the main ballroom of The Youngstown Club.

The ballroom will be filled with 40 to 50 wines and other seasonal beverages, gift sets, holiday wine baskets and other unique gift ideas for patrons to sample and purchase.
