St. Charles Church joined with the St. Vincent de Paul Society for its annual Thanksgiving food collection to help feed the needy.
Bob Hart has been a lifetime member of St. Charles Church and has been organizing the Thanksgiving food drive for the last 24 years.
Under Hart’s leadership, the event is down to a science. In the St. Charles Social Hall, tables are lined with food in organized groups including the sides, vegetables and snacks to be included in a Thanksgiving meal.
“We work very hard and I’m proud that we can offer 32 local families a meal package that provides for their entire Thanksgiving meal,” Hart said.
On Nov. 21, eighth-graders from St. Charles School joined Hart and his team to help organize and assemble the meal packages and bring the donations to the St. Vincent Hall on Front Street in downtown Youngstown.
The students who assisted on Nov. 21 were members of the school’s eighth-grade Stewardship Club.
“The holidays are a really important time to give back,” eighth-grader Kaylee Stoneburner said of her participation in the Thanksgiving food drive.
