The Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) District 5 sponsored its annual fall conference Nov. 19 at Henry H. Stambaugh Auditorium in Youngstown.

Highlighting the conference were the performances of the OMEA District 5 Middle School and High School Honors Bands. Band directors from across Ashtabula, Mahoning, and Trumbull counties submitted hundreds of nominations to be selected from.

Four middle school and six high school band members from Canfield were selected to perform with these prestigious ensembles.

Canfield Middle School band members who participated were Peter Crescimanno on clarinet, Olivia Slater on trumpet, and Alexis Jones on tuba.

Canfield’s Alicia Smith on oboe, Michael Barkett on trumpet, Gabrielle Brant on French horn, Jacob Powell on euphonium, and Aaron Graneto on percussion were part of the high school band.

For Smith, this was the fourth straight year performing with this prestigious group.
