Austintown’s Reel celebrates 90th birthday

Vada Reel of Austintown was joined by more than 200 friends to celebrate her 90th birthday on Nov. 20 at Smith Corners United Methodist Church.

Hosting the event were her three sons and their wives, Kenneth and Mary Ann Reel, Gary and Sandie Reel and Wayne and Judi Reel. Also present were her sisters, Freda Kochera of Austintown and Janice (Bob) Wehr of Dallas, Texas. Vada is grandmother of eight and great grandmother of eight.

Having lived in Austintown most of her life, she resides in the house that her late husband, Jack, built in 1940 before their marriage. She is active in Smith Corners Church, serving as the organist and pianist for the past 74 years, as well as Dublin Grange in Canfield and the Farm Bureau.
