Report: Glenn Davis hired to coach YSU DBs

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown State football team may have a new defensive backs coach next season.

According to the website FootballScoop.com, South Florida defensive quality control coach Glenn Davis will join the Penguins.

Rollen Smith coached the defensive backs last fall. The former Ursuline High coach was on campus all day Thursday, a source said.

Davis spent the 2009 spring season as the secondary coach at Division II Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Ala., before moving on to Union Christian Prep Academy in Cincinnati in the fall to serve as the defensive coordinator.

Prior to his stint there, Davis spent two years as the defensive coordinator at Freedom High School from 2007-08. In 2006, Davis was the defensive coordinator for the Birmingham Steeldogs of the arenafootball2 league.

YSU's defensive coordinator, Rick Kravitz, spent 10 years at South Florida and head coach Eric Wolford was there for two years.
