A summary of recent criminal activity in Liberty, Girard and Hubbard:
LIBERTY
Nov. 29
Theft: A Thomas Lane man reported a United Parcel Service package stolen from his front porch.
Theft: A Hubbard man reported his wallet missing at a Belmont Avenue store.
Menacing: Police charged 43-year-old Stephen C. Council, 530 Gypsy Lane, Liberty, with menacing after Council’s former girlfriend alleged he had banged on and kicked her door. Council, who also was wanted on a probation-violation charge, had threatened to harm the woman and her teenage son, authorities said.
Theft: A boy told officers $150 and several credit cards were missing from his mother’s Oriel-Rodgers Road home.
Nov. 30
Domestic violence: Warren police took custody of 34-year-old Daniel G. Sorvillo, 405 Asbury Lane, Niles, who was wanted on a warrant from the township charging him.
Possible fraud: A woman found out a check from her deceased daughter’s account had been cashed for $435 at a Belmont Avenue bank by someone she believed was unauthorized to do so.
Drugs: Officers at a Motor Inn Drive motel charged a Niles girl, 17, with possession of heroin and drug-abuse instruments, as well as 43-year-old Andrew P. Peyatt, 1600 Motor Inn Drive, Liberty, with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, permitting drug use and possession of drug-abuse instruments. A police dog led to the discovery of numerous syringes in the room and a small bag the girl admitted contained heroin, a report said.
Dec. 1
Arrest: Township police at the Mahoning County jail picked up 47-year-old Sincearae Opatken, 1623 Florence Ave., Youngstown, who was wanted on a charge of failure to appear in court.
Breaking and entering: Someone broke into about 15 storage units in the 1600 block of Amherst Street.
Criminal damaging: A key was used to do an estimated $500 in damage to a vehicle’s driver’s side in the 6600 block of Belmont Avenue.
Dec. 2
Arrest: A traffic stop in the 4700 block of Belmont Avenue resulted in the arrest of Eliud K. Kesio, 34, of 290 Colonial Drive, Liberty, who, police said, was wanted on a warrant from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency charging him with failing to appear for a deportation hearing. Kesio also was accused of driving with three license suspensions.
Breaking and entering: Three pressure fryers were stolen from a Belmont Avenue storage shed someone had entered.
Domestic violence: A 17-year-old Youngstown boy was charged with the crime after a situation between the teen and a family member in which the accuser alleged the boy had pushed a bed, causing him to fall and strike a piece of furniture.
Dec. 3
Criminal damaging: A Tuttle Lane woman noticed damage to her vehicle’s gas tank, possibly done with a hammer.
Dec. 4
Domestic violence: Samantha Hillier, 18, was arrested at her residence, 414 Church Hill Road, Hubbard, and charged after her father alleged Hillier had struck him several times in the chest and neck during an argument.
Assault: A charge was pending against a 25-year-old township man after a woman alleged he became enraged and shoved her during an argument at a Homestead Road home.
Menacing: Two Church Hill-Hubbard Road women reported another woman has been sending harassing text messages as part of a dispute related to a three-way lease agreement, and that she sent an additional such message after having been excluded from dinner plans.
Harassment: A Sampson Drive woman reported receiving two unwanted calls.
Dec. 5
Arrest: Police took into custody 21-year-old Thomas C. Robinson, 5983 Union St., Hubbard, during a traffic stop on state Route 304. Robinson was wanted by Youngstown authorities on a charge of disorderly conduct.
GIRARD
Nov. 30
Fraud: An Ohio Avenue woman discovered someone had accessed several of her accounts, then changed passwords and security features.
Harassment: An East Liberty Street man said his wife made threatening calls to him.
Theft: A $55 bicycle was stolen in the 200 block of South Main Street.
Criminal damaging: A Krehl Avenue woman told police an intoxicated friend used a butcher knife to damage the accuser’s car’s front fender and passenger-side door. Damage was estimated at $1,000.
Dec. 1
Endangerment: Police received several complaints about two children, one age 10, the other age five months, having been left unattended in a vehicle for 20 to 40 minutes at a U.S. Route 422 store, with an outdoor temperature of 31 degrees.
Burglary: Took place in the 200 block of Illinois Avenue, where a digital camera, a 32-inch flat-screen TV, two laptop computers and other items were stolen. The loss came to $1,850.
Theft: A man noticed an $800 magnetic device missing from a porch in the 600 block of East Prospect Street.
Theft/harassment: A Joan Avenue woman reported a prescription missing, and alleged her daughter has been posting unwanted online comments about the accuser and other family members as part of a feud.
Dec. 2
Assault/damage: A Church Hill Road man alleged a relative waved his hands in front of the accuser’s face in an aggressive manner, causing him to fall backward. Another person reported a family member had damaged a baby stroller and a rabbit cage.
Citation: A female driver was to have been issued a citation charging her with failure to comply with a police order after an officer directing traffic on U.S. Route 422 near Trumbull Avenue said she improperly drove around and nearly struck him.
Dec. 4
Theft: A $100 cellphone was stolen in the 500 block of East Prospect Street.
Arrest: Officers responded to a burglary at a South Market Street apartment before arresting 51-year-old James M. Taylor, 225 S. Market, on a warrant from Niles charging him with fraud.
Dec. 5
Assault: Police responding to a fight on Washington Avenue charged Steven R. Irgang, 25, of 501 Lawrence Ave., and Ryan C. Martin, 28, of 1013 Washington St., with disorderly conduct. Authorities had to use pepper spray because the two Girard men ignored commands to stop fighting, a report showed.
HUBBARD
Nov. 30
Citation: Salvadore Halicki, 57, of 3315 Shadyside Drive, Hubbard, was accused of allowing a dog to run loose.
Domestic violence: Elizabeth Henderson, 32, of 26 Brookside Drive, Hubbard, was charged with the crime.
Dec. 1
Arrest: Police arrested 39-year-old Mike Moran, 8249 Warren-Sharon Road, Masury, on a warrant.
Dec. 2
Harassment: A South Main Street girl said another girl sent the accuser a threatening text message.
Dec. 4
Recovered property: A Hillview man found a Hubbard woman’s debit card.
Recovered property: A man’s wallet was found at a Speedway gas station, 806 W. Liberty St.
Theft of services: A man who owns property in the 700 block of Elmwood Drive reported someone without permission.
