Guilty in drug case

PITTSBURGH

A 35-year-old Ellwood City, Pa., man could go to federal prison for five to 40 years and be fined up to $5 million after he pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to make and distribute methamphetamine, the U.S. attorney said.

Brian V. Sercel entered his plea before Chief U.S. District Court Judge Gary L. Lancaster, who will sentence him April 13, 2012.

Between May 2010 and March 11, 2011, Sercel conspired with others to make and distribute the drug, the U.S. attorney said this week.

The case was investigated by Ellwood City police, the Lawrence County Drug Task Force and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Fighting clemency

WARREN

Trumbull County Prosecutor Dennis Watkins says the three living siblings of Raymond Montgomery are among those who deserve to see Charles Lorraine die for killing Raymond and his wife, Doris, in May 1986.

Watkins and others will argue against clemency for Lorraine, 45, of Warren, at a clemency hearing Tuesday before the Ohio Parole Board.

Lorraine reportedly did odd jobs for Doris, 80, and Raymond, 77, at their Haymaker Northwest home. Court records say Lorraine stabbed Doris nine times and Raymond six times and robbed them. Lorraine is scheduled to die by lethal injection Jan. 18.
