Ex-Illinois governor sentenced to 168 months
Former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich was sentenced today to 168 months in prison.
He was convicted by a jury in June of seeking to make a personal profit by selling the U.S. Senate seat vacated by then president-elect Barack Obama and for seeking jobs and campaign contributions in exchange for state favors.
An emotional Blagojevich apologized to his family before U.S. District Judge James B. Zagel rendered his verdict.
"I have nobody to blame but myself for my stupidity," he said in court.
