AT&T adds cell sites in Trumbull County

CORTLAND

AT&T on Tuesday announced the activation of 10 new mobile broadband cell sites in Trumbull County including the communities of Brookfield, Cortland, Hartford and Kinsman.

The announcement means enhanced coverage for residents and businesses, the company said.

“These investments in mobile broadband will be a great help in improving our business climate throughout Northeast Ohio,” said Sen. Joe Schiavoni of Canfield, D-33rd, in a release. “Businesses looking to expand or relocate expect the latest in wireless technology.”

AT&T also has expanded wireless capacity. This network enhancement adds new layers of frequency, also known as “carriers,” to nine of the cell sites in Trumbull County.

Drilling permits issued in West Twp.

LISBON

Ohio Department of Natural Resources has approved two permits for potential oil and gas drilling operations in West Township in Columbiana County.

The permits are for a property on State Route 30 just west of Lippincott Road. That property has two other permits for oil and gas drilling.

The permits were issued to Chesapeake Energy Corp.

Drillers need two permits — a horizontal and vertical — to unlock natural gas and oil in the Utica and Marcellus shales.

There are now 16 permits issued in Columbiana County and 13 issued in Mahoning County. Utica and Marcellus shale drilling have yet to be permitted in Trumbull.
