Super Bowl show on heels of new film
LOS ANGELES
The rumor that Madonna will perform during the Super Bowl XLVI halftime show Feb. 5 was confirmed during NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” game. And the timing couldn’t be more perfect — the 53-year-old singer’s romantic drama “W.E.” just happens to be rolling out in theaters two days before the game. And she is recording an album due for release next year.
At this past February’s Super Bowl, the Black Eyed Peas performed, while The Who headlined the 2010 halftime show.
The 2012 big game, which will air on NBC, is set to take place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
E! News host Rancic will have mastectomy
LOS ANGELES
Six weeks after revealing she has breast cancer, E! News host Giuliana Rancic says she will have a double mastectomy.
The 37-year-old made the announcement Monday on NBC’s “Today” show.
Rancic says it was not an easy decision but was the best one for her.
She plans to have the surgery next week and says she hopes to be recovered by New Year’s Eve, when she and husband Bill Rancic are planning to be in Times Square.
Rosie O’Donnell engaged to girlfriend

Rosie O’Donnell and her girlfriend, Michelle Rounds, are engaged.
O’Donnell’s publicist and a spokesman for the Oprah Winfrey Network say the host of “The Rosie Show” told her studio audience about the engagement Monday during a commercial break.
The Emmy Award-winning talk-show host’s new program debuted in September.
Rounds is a 40-year-old headhunter for an information technology company. O’Donnell is a mother of four and was previously married to former partner Kelli Carpenter.
O’Donnell’s publicist says a wedding date hasn’t been set.
Jason Aldean parties with 6 wins at ACAs

The American Country Awards were Jason Aldean’s kinda party.
Country music’s newest superstar won six awards Monday in Las Vegas, including the night’s top honors artist of the year and record of the year for “My Kinda Party.”
Carrie Underwood picked up three awards this year, including female artist of the year and female single of the year for “Mama’s Song.”
Alabama won a Greatest Hits Award and Toby Keith was named artist of the decade as the most-played country star on radio over the past 10 years.
