Howland board puts levy back on ballot

HOWLAND

The Howland school board has voted to place a 4.9-mill additional levy before voters at the March 6 primary election.

It is the same levy voters rejected Nov. 8 by a total of 5,106 to 3,640.

“We advised the community that if the November levy attempted failed, that more than likely they would see the levy on the ballot again, and that is what we have done,” said Barb Wright, a board member.

“Our school system needs to have additional revenue because we can’t cut our way to fiscal solvency,” she said in a press release Monday.
