“Cupcake wars” (8 p.m., food network): And so, in this holiday season, we ask: Why can’t all our wars be “Cupcake Wars”? More calories, but less bloodshed. A new season begins tonight.
“Celebrity Holiday Homes” (8 p.m., hgtv): Oh great, here’s a show that will make us feel even more inferior. “Celebrity Holiday Homes” invites viewers into the lavishly decorated abodes of Jordin Sparks, Kurt Warner and Eva LaRue.
“NEVERLAND” (9 p.m., syfy): Will this imaginative four-hour miniseries take flight in the ratings, or just be a flash in the (Peter) pan? It’s television’s latest effort to add some new twists to an old fairy tale (See: “Once Upon a Time” and “Grimm”), whipping up an offbeat prequel and telling it from the perspective of the boy who never grows up (Charlie Rowe). This version starts before Peter met Wendy — when he’s the leader of a band of pickpockets working for their mentor, Jimmy Hook (Rhys Ifans). In their shady dealings, they come across a magical orb that transports them to a mysterious realm, where they meet up with a vicious female pirate (Anna Friel) and a feisty glowing tree spirit named Tinker Bell (voiced by Keira Knightley). We can only hope that J.M. Barrie would approve.
