Two new members recently were elected to the Northeast Ohio Medical University Foundation Board of Directors.

Bruce E. Sherman, president of Sherman Creative Promotions Inc., Youngstown, and Dean L. Olivieri, president of Fred Olivieri Construction Co., Canton, both will begin to serve their three-year terms in November 2012.

Sherman is president of Sherman Creative Promotions Inc., a distributor of imprinted promotional materials. He earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Youngstown State University and is a certified public accountant.

Sherman is a past president and current member of the board of the Youngstown State University Alumni Society, past chair and current member of the board of directors for Junior Achievement of Mahoning Valley, member of the board of directors for Leadership Mahoning County (and graduate of the class of 1985), and past treasurer and current board member at Interfaith Home Maintenance.

He also is a trustee for the Frances & Lillian Schermer Charitable Trust and the J. Ford Crandall Memorial Foundation.

Olivieri has served as president of Olivieri Construction Co. since 1992. He joined the family-owned business in 1980 and has been involved in all facets of the operation, helping to maintain steady growth of all divisions.

Oliveri received a bachelor of science degree in construction technology from Bowling Green State University and is heavily involved in his community.

In May 2011, the board of directors voted and approved changing the Foundation name to the Northeast Ohio Medical University Foundation (formerly the NEOUCOM Foundation) to align with the university’s name change and positioning efforts.

Founded in 1978, the Northeast Ohio Medical University Foundation comprises health care, community and business leaders and is led by an 18-member volunteer board of directors.

The foundation aims to strengthen the financial capacity of the university and to broaden access to high quality medical and pharmacy education.
