NEWTON FALLS

The television program “America’s Most Wanted” Friday featured the search for Claudia Hoerig, accused of murdering her husband, Karl, in their Newton Falls home in 2007. The segment aired on the Lifetime channel.

Claudia Hoerig was indicted in her husband’s death but fled to her native Brazil at about the same time Karl Hoerig’s body was found. Brazil refuses to extradite her back to the United States to stand trial.

The segment showed pictures of Claudia Hoerig, described her as weighing 140 pounds and said she almost always wears high-heeled shoes, even in places where it would not be practical.

She speaks with a part Portugese, part New York accent, according to the show.

Karl Hoerig, 44, was a major in the Air Force Reserve who flew 200 combat missions. He was also a pilot for Southwest Airlines.

Congressional resolutions have been presented to urge authorities to continue to press for her extradition.
