"The New Jim Crow" author at New Bethel Tuesday

Michelle Alexander, author of “The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness,” will take part in a discussion at New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman Street, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The presentation is sponsored by Youngstown State University Community Diversity Program Series.

Alexander’s book discusses how it is no longer acceptable to use race explicitly as a basis for discrimination, but it is legal to discriminate against convicted criminals in employment, housing, the right to vote and denial of educational opportunity.
