Even after 28 years, the Austintown Middle School PTA Craft Show, held on Nov. 12, showed no signs of slowing down.
“We’ve been organizing our craft show for so long that it allows us to find lots of new vendors and continue to get bigger and better each year. The money we raise benefits our students, so it is a wonderful program to be part of,” said event chair and AMS PTA member Ellen DiFrancesco.
Fundraising at the craft show benefits any programs that brighten student life at the middle school. The money often provides for field trips, grade-by-grade projects, speakers, dances and anything the school needs. The craft show also offers major funding for the school talent show.
The mutual giving was part of the atmosphere at the Nov. 12 event. All vendors donated an item to be used in a basket auction that benefitted students.
Student helpers were on hand from Fitch’s National Honor Society, Interact Club and members of local churches fulfilling their service hours.
For vendors, the show offered a chance to meet with other artisans or share their message.
Debbie Miglets sold treats and candies to benefit her animal rescue organization Close 2 Home.
“It’s great to be among so many talented and passionate people. I’m honored to be a part of it,” Miglets said of the craft show.
