Mahoning County commissioners have voted to close Lanterman Road between Riblett and Meridian roads now through next Friday to enable installation of a new Riblett Road sanitary-sewer line.
The 7,560-foot gravity sewer costing more than $1 million is expected to be ready for use next spring. It will serve about 50 Austintown homes and flow to the Youngstown sewage- treatment plant.
Man pleads guilty

David M. Utterback, 54, of 13th Street, Niles, pleaded guilty to three counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor and three counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor.
Utterback, who remains free on bond, will be sentenced in about five weeks, after the Trumbull County Adult Probation Department conducts an investigation. He could get up to nine years in prison.
Since October 2005, Utterback possessed material showing a minor participating or engaging in sexual activity and possessed obscene material containing a minor as one of its participants, prosecutors said.
Coats for kids

The Salvation Army will distribute new winter coats to 1,000 pre-registered needy children from toddlers to age 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at its facility at 1501 Glenwood Ave.
The SA, in partnership with Northeastern Ohio Ford Dealers, Cumulus Broadcasting and Operation Warm, is preparing hundreds of needy youth for winter weather by providing them with a new coat, said Maj. Elijah O. Kahn, Salvation Army Mahoning County Area Services coordinator. Anyone wishing to help during distribution can volunteer by calling 330-270-5999.
