45 minutes to kickoff/Baby, it’s cold outside

CANTON

Some state football championships are played in bright December sunshine.

Today’s Division III state championship will not be one of them.

Skies over Fawcett Stadium are extremely overcast as the Cardinal Mooney and Shawnee High football teams warm up.

A few flakes of snow fell in Louisville on the journey to Canton. At the moment, there is no precipitation falling. The temperature is 38 degrees.

A few of the Mooney coaches already are wearing parkas and ski caps for warmups. Head coach P.J. Fecko is not one of them.

Going for his fourth state crown in eight seasons, Fecko is watcihng his troops get loose wearing a jacket but no hat.
