What’s going on in Hubbard?
Hubbard should change its name to “Cover Up, Ohio.”
We are being ripped off on our utility bills. We have an “O” charge which amounts to $100 at times. I think this is their money-making machine so that they could pay the city workers’ outrageous salaries and benefits. The residents of Hubbard pay $2,400 each month for each city employee (at least 40) for health insurance.
The outrageous charge for our water is because of the fiasco created by a former mayor who replaced our excellent water source with an inferior one, which cost the city millions and we are still paying dearly for same. After this project was completed and we started receiving water from Shenango, this mayor resigned because he was given a lucrative job with the water company that benefited.
When I attempted to address this madness at council meetings, I was not permitted to do so because the president of council, John Darko, was beholden to said mayor.
Mr. Darko is now going to be our mayor and so the games continue. We have recycled politicians.
