Warren police probe death

Kyser
Staff report
WARREN
Police are investigating a death that followed a shooting after midnight Wednesday at a restaurant and tavern on Youngstown Road.
Kristopher T. Kyser, 22, of Paige Avenue Northeast, died Wednesday morning at ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital after being shot in the hip at Caf 22.
Police were called to Caf 22, 2006 Youngstown Road SE, at 12:10 a.m. Kyser had already been taken to the hospital when police arrived.
Kyser was unconscious at the hospital, so police could not question him. The gun used to shoot Kyser has not been recovered.
Police tried to question a 29-year-old Warren man who may have witnessed the shooting, but he refused to cooperate.
Police are awaiting results of an autopsy to be conducted today before they know whether Kyser’s death is a homicide.
Kyser was sentenced in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court last October to 18 months in prison on a probation violation.
He also was convicted of misdemeanor assault in 2008 and misdemeanor unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in 2009.
If the death is ruled a homicide, it would be the 10th of the year in Warren. The city had four in 2010.
