Search engine on Ohio public worker pay has glitch

COLUMBUS (AP) — A spokesman for Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel says a programming glitch has been fixed so the state salaries of two Mandel political aides are now listed in a new online database.

Mandel’s office built the database of public employees’ salaries at ohiotreasurer.com.

Figures for Scott Guthrie and Joel Riter are among about 70 treasury employees whose salary data initially was not listed. Both worked for Mandel’s 2010 campaign for treasurer, then for his state office, before returning to Mandel’s political team.

A spokesman said the glitch had been fixed by midday Wednesday.

The Plain Dealer newspaper of Cleveland first reported on the searchable salary database Wednesday.

Mandel says taxpayers work hard for their money and have a right to know where it’s going.
