POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Aug. 21

Arrest: Police investigating a one-car accident on Struthers Road charged Russell C. Snyder, 2980 Autumnwood Trail, Poland, with operating a vehicle impaired.

Aug. 22

Assault: A Struthers woman was injured after reporting having been assaulted in the 2800 block of Poland Village Boulevard.

Aug. 23

Arrest: Authorities took 28-year-old David S. Hilton into custody at his residence, 3899 Center Road, Poland, on a charge of being a fugitive from justice related to a charge from Pennsylvania.

Aug. 25

Arrest: A traffic stop on U.S. Route 224 led to 37-year-old Jennifer L. Musmanno’s arrest. Musmanno, of 171 Retort Drive, Edinburg, Pa., was charged with operating a vehicle impaired, then released on a summons.

Recovered property: A green pill bottle with an unknown substance was found in the township and turned over to police.

BOARDMAN

Aug. 25

Theft: Thomas Volpe, 33, of 23 Clinton St., Youngstown, was charged with stealing an Xbox item from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Theft: A township boy reported his $600 bicycle stolen while at a business in the 7300 block of Market Street.

Theft: A man in his mid-20s took a $200 metal flower rack from Home Depot, 7001 Southern Blvd.

Arrest: Officers responding to an intoxicated person in the 400 block of Meadowbrook Avenue charged 51-year-old Charles P. McQuillan, no address listed, with disorderly conduct while intoxicated.

Fraud: A West Parkside Drive man reported someone fraudulently used his daughter’s name and listed his residence online as being for rent.

Criminal damaging: A business in the 4900 block of Southern Boulevard sustained a broken front window, and a $140 estimate.

Vandalism: Three windows were damaged at a business in the 4800 block of Southern Boulevard.

Theft: A woman stole merchandise from a Shell gas station, 950 Boardman-Poland Road.

Criminal damaging: A woman driving on South Avenue told officers someone threw an object and damaged her vehicle’s hood.

Theft: Two people stole $60 worth of automobile supplies from a Shell gas station, 950 Boardman-Poland Road.

Criminal damaging: A car in the 80 block of Shadyside Drive was found with a smashed rear window.

Burglary: Through a side window of a trailer in the 4000 block of South Avenue, from which $2,753 worth of tools and supplies was taken.

Attempted theft: Two women reportedly tried to break into a car in the 800 block of Cook Avenue.

Aug. 26

Arrest: Authorities picked up 26-year-old Ryan S. Stoakes II, 82 Carter Circle, Boardman, on a probation-violation charge.

Possible theft: Police received a report that two women may have stolen merchandise from Dollar General, 5953 South Ave.

Theft: A woman reported the theft of a $70 wristwatch while at a U.S. Route 224 nail salon.

Harassment: A manager with a South Avenue business said a woman called more than 100 times in an effort to contact an employee.

Arrest: Police pulled over 18-year-old Krista J. Spencer near Melbourne Avenue, then charged her with obstructing official business. Spencer, of 6714 Trenholm Road, Boardman, lied to authorities about her name and date of birth, a report said.

Domestic violence: A Boardman girl, 17, was charged with the crime after a family member alleged the teen had pushed and scratched him during an argument related to his getting a job.

Arrest: Authorities responding to a threat made at a South Avenue gas station charged 21-year-old Jesus M. Santiago, 5025 Forest Park Drive, Boardman, with ethnic intimidation, a fifth-degree felony, and aggravated menacing, a misdemeanor. A clerk alleged Santiago had made racial remarks and threatened to shoot her after she refused to allow him to buy cigarettes for another person.

Theft: Keith M. Kopnitsky, 22, of 155 S. Schenley Ave., Youngstown, was charged in the theft of a $38 men’s polo shirt from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.

Assault: An Austintown woman alleged her former boyfriend, of Mathews Road, grabbed and choked her.

Aug. 27

Theft: A Houston man at a Tiffany Boulevard motel discovered a computer bag containing $970 worth of merchandise had been stolen from under his bed.

Drugs: After getting a complaint about someone smoking marijuana in a vehicle on Argyle Avenue, police charged 33-year-old Jonathan E. Davis, 1870 Lynn Mar Ave., Boardman, with possession of Vicodin and drug paraphernalia after saying he had 2.5 Vicodin tablets with no prescription. Davis also was cited on a charge of having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Attempted burglary: Someone pushed up a kitchen-window screen in an attempt to enter a residence in the 400 block of Old Shay Lane.

Menacing: A Poland woman at a Romaine Avenue home told police a man followed her, pulled into the driveway and continually honked his horn.

Arrest: Christopher S. Woloschak, 27, of 464 Rhoda Ave., Youngstown, was arrested in the 200 block of Midlothian Boulevard. Woloschak was wanted by Canfield authorities on a charge of amphetamine manufacturing.

Assault/criminal mischief: A man in an argument with another driver near U.S. Route 224 and Tippecanoe Road told police the motorist punched his face, then kicked and dented his vehicle’s passenger side.

Aug. 28

Criminal mischief: Someone tossed eggs at a vehicle in the 50 block of North Cavilled Drive.

Threats: A worker for a Boardman-Poland Road business told police an irate customer threatened to return to shoot the store.

Aggravated menacing: A Lockwood Boulevard woman reported a friend of her husband’s called threatening to shoot her.

Theft: Heather J. Upole, 27, of 27 Steel St., Youngstown, faced a felony charge, accused of stealing $1,447 worth of clothing from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

Domestic violence: Marshall A. Wilcox, 44, of 454 Melbourne Ave., Boardman, faced a charge after his wife alleged Wilcox had threatened over the phone to beat her to death.

Domestic violence: Police arrested 19-year-old Jefferson D. Payne, 215 Victoria St., Youngstown, after pulling him over on Southern Boulevard. Payne’s former girlfriend, of Shields Road, alleged he had tried to choke her during an argument.

Drug paraphernalia: A traffic stop on Mathews Road led to the arrest of Kristopher J. Branch, 200 Chris Ave., Washingtonville, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia after police said Branch admitted suspected contraband found in the vehicle was his.
