Authorities say a west Philadelphia man has been charged with beating a neighbor to death with a metal pole.

Patrick Fischer, 25, of the Overbrook Farms neighborhood is charged with murder, possession of an instrument of crime and resisting arrest.

Police told The Philadelphia Inquirer that Dominic Crisconi, 53, was pronounced dead at 11:19 a.m. Monday at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Police initially said the weapon was believed to have been a baseball bat, but said Tuesday that it was a metal pole. Investigators have not indicted what the motive may have been.
