Gallery to screen two videos

NILES

The Art Outreach Gallery will screen two 18-minute videos from the TED Talks video archives at 7 p.m. Thursday at its storefront in the Eastwood Mall Complex.

The Thursday evening presentation is the first of a planned six-event series called STIC, an acronymn for Space-Time-Ideas-Community.

STIC events will be at the gallery at 7 p.m. on the first and third Thursdays of September, October and November.

The inaugural STIC event features recorded videos from astronomer, author and education contrarian, Clifford Stoll; and from new media consultant and author, Clay Shirky. Future STIC 2011 presentations will be announced one week before event.

All STIC events are free. Niles Iron and Metal is the official sponsor of the first STIC event.

The second person charged in the fatal shooting of a Brookfield teenager now awaits sentencing.

Paul Sundy is charged with obstructing justice in connection with the 2009 shooting death of 15 year old Robert Flynn at Sundy’s home in Masury.

Sundy entered a guilty plea Tuesday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.

Karen Adams, who says she fired the fatal shot in self-defense, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to six years in prison.
