FOOD SALES AND DINNERS


THURSDAY

Poland United Methodist Church, 1940 Boardman-Poland Road, will sell homemade dinners to go from 3:30 p.m. until sold out. Ready for takeout will be dinners of baked stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and green beans. Cost is $6. Drive to the front of the church and someone will hand you a dinner to go; no need to preorder or get out of the car.

St. Michael Orthodox Church, 125 Steel St., Youngstown, will serve homemade Chinese lunches from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The menu will feature teriyaki chicken or vegetable lo mein. The cost of the meal is $6. No reservations are necessary. This will probably be the last lunch served.

Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, will have a drive-through chicken dinner from 4 p.m. until sold out. Meals include stuffed chicken breast with gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans and brownie. The cost is $7.

FRIDAY

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 330-792-1005.

St. Paul Home and School Association will serve a pasta bowl dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. in St. Paul’s School gym before the Salem vs. United football game. The meal includes three pasta choices, salad, bread and beverage. Cost is $7. A limited number of tickets will be sold in advance only. Tickets are available at the school office, 925 E. SUNDAY

Capt. Charles M. Marino Post 3, Italian-American War Veterans, 113 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown, will serve spaghetti dinners from noon to 5 p.m. The cost is $6.50 for adults and $3.50 for children 6 to 10. Those under 6 may eat for free. Carryouts also will be available; containers can be purchased or patrons may provide their own.

Knights of Columbus Girard Council 2935 will have a steak fry from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 17 at West Fork Roadhouse, 3850 Belmont Ave., Liberty. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children. Tickets are being sold for the 2011 Little Leopards Spaghetti Dinner from 1 to 6 p.m. Sept. 25 at Liberty High School. Cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children under 10. Volunteers are needed to help cook and serve. Sign up at the concession stand. Takeouts will be available.

The historic Lutheran Church of St. John, 1429 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, adjacent to Mill Creek Park’s Fellows Riverside Gardens, will have its all-you-can-eat pasta buffet from 11:45 a.m. until the food runs out on Sept. 11 in Colonial Hall. The meal includes pasta and meatballs in sauce, salad, rolls, beverage and dessert. Cost is $5.95 per person; children 5 and younger eat free. Carry-out will be available. Call 330-792-7462 to order. Martin Luther Lutheran Church will have its Taste of the Lakes fish fry fundraiser, featuring crappie, walleye and Canadian pike from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 9 in Fellowship Hall, 420 Clearmount Drive, Youngstown. The meal also will include fries or macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, pie and beverage. Cost is $8 for adults in advance, $8.75 at the door; $3.95 for children 6 to 12; and free for those under 6. Takeout will be available. Tickets are available at the church, after the 10:30 a.m. worship, or Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Sept. 7. Southington United Methodist Church, state routes 305 and 534, will serve a chicken dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Sept. 7. The meal includes a quarter chicken, scalloped potatoes, green beans, applesauce, coleslaw, homemade desserts and beverage. Cost for adults is $7.50. A meal with chicken tenders is $4 for children ages 4 through 10 and free for those 3 and younger. Carryouts will be available; call 330-898-2156 to order.

Wheatland Volunteer Fire Department will have a steak fry from 3 to 8 p.m. Sept. 10 at Wheatland American Legion hall, corner of Broadway and Council avenues. The “cook your own” dinner will feature a 24-ounce steak with fixings, dessert and beer or nonalcoholic beverages for a cost of $20. The event also will include 50/50 raffles, tear-off tickets and a basket auction. Tickets should be purchased in advance.
