Man, 23, killed in motorcycle crash

POLAND

A 23-year-old Beaver Township man, Kevin J. Jackson Jr., was killed Monday afternoon when the motorcycle he was driving went off Arrel Road in Poland Township.

The crash occurred at 3:30 p.m. between state Route 170 and Struthers Road, according to the Ohio Highway State Patrol. The patrol’s report said the motorcycle was eastbound when it went off the left side of the road and struck a ditch, a light post and a landscape stone.

It’s the third motorcycle fatality in three days. On Sunday, Kodi Brenner, 20, of Masury was killed when the motorcycle she was on collided with a car at state Route 82 and Niles-Vienna Road in Vienna Township.

On Saturday, Joseph Whitacre, 40, of Brookfield died after he lost control of his motorcycle and hit a utility pole on Standard Avenue in Brookfield.

Cited for disturbance

WARREN

A tavern owner and nearby neighbor were both cited for creating a disturbance Saturday night.

Police cited one of the owners of the II Hype Bar, 948 Mahoning Ave., for loud music at 8:56 p.m. Saturday.

While an officer was at the tavern, he heard a loud blaring noise coming from a residence on nearby Summit Avenue Northwest and cited the owner for disturbing the peace.

The device was aimed directly at the back patio of the tavern and was louder than the music, police said.

Juveniles assaulted

WARREN

Three juveniles told police they were assaulted by three other juveniles on Moncrest Avenue Northwest about 9 p.m. Saturday.

The victims — two males and a female — said three males on bicycles asked them if they wanted to engage in drug activity, then assaulted them when they said no.

One of the victims was knocked off of his bicycle, and the bicycle was taken from him.

Another of the suspects showed a handgun during the attack, police said. All three victims went to St. Joseph Health Center for treatment.
