Farm day to include MCHS

MERCER, PA.

Munnell Run Farm Day, which will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 18 at Munnell Run Farm, will include the participation of the Mercer County Historical Society.

Features and activities will include music, family nature walks, scavenger hunt, wagon rides, traditional artisans, a quilt show, tours of the demonstration farm and the historical society’s Rural Life Museum.

Munnell Run Farm and the Rural Life Museum are located at 353 Greenville Road, north of Mercer on Route 58 and across from the Mercer County Vo-Tech.

The museum, full of artifacts from Mercer County’s agrarian past, is dedicated to preserving reminders of the rural heritage.

There is no charge, and parking is free. However, organizers request that everyone take a donation of nonperishable food to share with the Community Food Warehouse of Mercer County.

The historical society will have its sixth annual ox roast at the museum that day. The dinner will include roast beef, red potatoes, royal beans, salad, bread and butter and a beverage.

Tickets for the ox roast can be purchased in advance for $6 each. Visit the historical society or mail a check or money order with a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the MCHS, 119 S. Pitt St., Mercer, PA 16137, by Sept. 14 to ensure ticket delivery. A limited number of tickets will be available for $7 the day of the event.
