Motorcyclist killed in crash with car
VIENNA
A motorcyclist was killed in a Sunday afternoon collision with a car at state Route 82 and Niles-Vienna Road.
Ejected from the westbound motorcycle she was riding along Route 82 and fatally injured in the 12:17 p.m. crash was Kodi Brenner, 20, of Masury, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
The driver of the eastbound car, Andrew Fredenburg, 27, of Vienna, suffered minor injuries but refused treatment at the scene.
The motorcycle hit the car as Fredenburg attempted a left turn onto Niles-Vienna Road, the patrol said. Brenner was wearing a helmet, the patrol said. The crash remains under investigation.

A tire-recycling drive for Mahoning County residents will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Covelli Centre.
The first 10 passenger tires per car will be accepted free of charge, and $1.50 per passenger tire will be charged thereafter. A $1.50-per-tire fee will be charged for tires on rims. Truck tires will be accepted for a fee depending on tire size, typically $5 per tire.
YSU welcomes students for fall
Youngstown State University begins the fall semester today with a week’s worth of welcome-back activities, including bungee games, iPad2 giveaways, foam-filled dancing and more.
Today’s events include “Boardwalk on the Core” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the campus core outside Kilcawley Center.
Karaoke, inflatable attractions, a photo booth and Pickled Brothers entertainment will be featured.
An ice-cream social, cookout and cornhole will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the fountain at Kilcawley Center.
Benefit yard sale
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society will have its annual fundraising Light the Night Walk in Cleveland on Sept. 24.
A local team, Team Timko, in honor of Ava Timko, a 3-year-old from Canfield, and Rick Pesa, both survivors, are sponsoring a Giant Yard and Bake Sale in front of Agland, 364 Lisbon St., Canfield.
The sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 11.
Guardian Angels looking for volunteers

The Guardian Angels of Ohio, a volunteer guardianship program of the Trumbull County Probate Court, is looking for new volunteers.
Anyone interested is invited to the next meeting at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at Perkins Family Restaurant, 1953 Niles Cortland Road SE, Warren.
The Angels reach out in friendship to people in Trumbull County who are elderly and alone by providing trained, qualified volunteers to serve as advocates.
