Air show to include Thunderbirds

CLEVELAND

The Cleveland National Air Show will return next weekend, Sept. 3, 4 and 5, at Burke Lakefront Airport.

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will headline the three-day event, said Chuck Newcomb, director of the air show.

In addition to the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, the 2011 lineup includes:

U.S. Army Golden Knights parachute team.

U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt.

U.S. Air Force F-4 Phantom (Vietnam era).

P-51 Mustang (World War II).

U.S. Navy F/A-18C Hornet.

Jason Newburg, Viper aerobatics.

Kent Pietsch, Jelly Belly extreme comedy act and RV-top landing.

John Klatt, Panzl 330 aerobatics sponsored by Air National Guard.

B-17 Flying Fortress from the movie “Memphis Belle.”

CAF Red Tail Squadron, Tuskegee Airmen RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit and P-51 Red Tail.

Aircraft on the ground and open for tours will include the U.S. Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey; the Air Force’s C-5 Galaxy and C-17 Globemaster; the Navy’s P-3 Orion and SH-60 Seahawk; the Army’s CH-47 Chinook and Coast Guard’s HH-65C Dolphin; plus Warbirds, including 6SNJ and 1946 North American Navion.

Advance general admission tickets are $19 ($12 for children ages 6-11 and free for children 5 and younger). Prices are $2 more at the gate.
