Woodworths celebrate 70th anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Eugene W. Woodworth, of Boardman, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Saturday.

Mr. Woodworth and the former Martha Bence were married Aug. 27, 1941, at her parents’ home.

They are members of Heritage Presbyterian Church of Poland, where Mrs. Woodworth belongs to Martha Circle. They also are members of Miriam Chapter 278, Order of Eastern Star, for which Mrs. Woodworth served as worthy matron, and they volunteered at Southside Medical Center and Beeghly Oaks Nursing Home.

Mr. Woodworth served five years with the Army in the South Pacific and the European Theater of Operations during World War II. He retired from Ohio Edison in 1979 and is an active member of Western Star Lodge 21, F.&A.M. in Boardman.

Mrs. Woodworth worked at G.M. McKelvey Co., and is a member of L.B. Circle and Clotilda Club of Miriam Chapter. She also was past mother adviser of Youngstown Assembly 16, Order of Rainbow for Girls.

The couple have a son, Richard, daughter-in-law, Susan, and three grandchildren, Billy, Michelle and Brian, all of Youngstown.
