Big 6th helps Scrappers top Jamestown

The Mahoning Valley Scrappers used a big sixth inning to rally past the Jamestown Jammers for a 4-2 victory in a New York-Penn League game Saturday night at Eastwood Field.

The Scrappers (35-31) scored all four runs in the sixth on four hits and two Jamestown errors. Tony Wolters and Jake Lowery each had RBI singles and Jordan Smith hit an RBI double for Mahoning Valley.

Wolters and Lowery each went 2-for-4 with a run and a RBI.

Danny Jimenez started for the Scrappers and gave up two runs (both unearned) in five innings. He struck out four, walked two and gave up three hits.

Jack Wagoner (1-0) pitched two hitless innings of relief to get the win, striking out one.

Tony Dischler (one walk, one strikeout) and Enosil Tejeda (one hit, one walk, two strikeouts) each tossed a scoreless inning, with Tejeda picking up his 11th save of the season.

Mahoning Valley is five games behind Auburn in the Pinckney Division standings and 21/2 back of Brooklyn for the wild card.
