Scrappers lose third straight, fall six back

Jerrud Sabourin had two hits and drove in a run but the Mahoning Valley Scrappers’ playoff hopes took another hit after a 6-3 loss to Jamestown Friday night in a New York-Penn League game at Eastwood Field.

It was the third straight loss for the Scrappers (35-31), who fell six games behind Auburn in the Pinckney Division standings. They are three games behind Brooklyn in the wild card standings with nine games remaining.

Bryson Myles had two hits, Todd Hankins doubled, scored a run and drove in a run and Jordan Smith and Cody Elliott each scored a run for Mahoning Valley.

Nathan Striz (3-5) started and lasted just 32/3 innings, giving up four runs (all earned) on six hits with four walks and four strikeouts.

Harold Guerrero pitched 32/3 innings of relief, striking out five while giving up two runs on four hits with a walk.

Josh McKeon was perfect over the last 12/3 innings, striking out three.

Josh Hodges (8-1) gave up two runs over 72/3 innings to get the win for Jamestown (33-33).

The Scrappers have two more home games against the Jammers, then play at Williamsport on Monday and Tuesday. They return to Eastwood Field on Wednesday and Thursday for their final two home games of the season.
