Little Falcons win two

The Little Falcons won two of the three games against the Warren Panthers last Sunday at Lincoln Field in Warren.

The 120-pound team scored twice on the ground and held Warren to just one score to earn a 14-8 victory. Melvin Neail gave ALF the lead for good with a 60-yard touchdown run and the conversion run in the third quarter. Andrew Bretsik provided the Falcons’ other TD with a 10-yard scoring run. The defense was led by Logan Italiano, Daniel Ifft, Christopher Scott, Neail, Eric Shipsky, Bryce Revis, Matthew Ferree and Bretsik.

The 140-pound squad began the season with a tough 6-0 win over the Panthers. ALF’s Randy Smith scored on a 12-yard TD reception from quarterback Nathaneil Fowler to put the Falcons ahead 6-0. That was all the defense needed, as the unit intercepted two passes and kept Warren out of the end zone. Milton Buchner and Smith picked off passes. Other defensive standouts were Willie Beverly, Ezra Lazar, Michael Ferree, Don Rica Stoutmire and Antonino Page.

Despite a big game from Tod Simons, the Little Falcons 100-pound team began the season with a 32-14 loss to the Panthers. Simons provided both ALF touchdowns, scoring on a 65-yard run, then a 60-yard fumble recovery and both extra points. On defense, he finished with seven tackles. Logan Pugh and Ryan Gordon also played well defensively for the squad.

The Little Falcons will be back in action tomorrow at noon when they host the Little Redmen at Fitch Falcon Stadium in the team’s home opener.
