A newspaper reports a judge has acquitted a Cleveland police officer accused of assaulting a handcuffed suspect at police headquarters.
The Plain Dealer reports Officer Adonna Perez was acquitted Friday by a judge who reviewed surveillance video of the officer with the suspect.
Perez was arrested in February on several misdemeanor charges. She had been accused of assaulting the female inmate in December.
Perez had testified Monday that she felt threatened by the suspect, who she described as drunk, violent, hostile and verbally abusive when picked up outside a nightclub.
The inmate testified she did nothing to deserve violent treatment from Perez.
Police have said the inmate wasn’t injured.
