Volunteers from Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning County will join the 7th Ward Citizens Coalition and other organizations in a neighborhood clean-up around Taft Elementary and Wilson Middle schools at 9:30 a.m. today.

Niles McKinley sets band night Sept. 7

The Niles McKinley High School Marching Red Dragon Band will have its 30th Band Night on Sept. 7. Bands from Howland, McDonald, Mineral Ridge, Warren G. Harding, and Lakeview high schools will perform, along with the Youngstown State University Band. Tickets are $5 for adults; students and children, $3; and children under 4 are free. Gates open at 7 p.m. at Bo Rein Stadium, 616 Dragon Drive, and performances begin at 7:30 p.m.

Jackson-Milton OKs new school fees

The Jackson-Milton Board of Education approved school fees, an insurance carrier and accepted donations Thursday at its monthly meeting.

School fees for the 2011-12 year have been set at $15. Calculator rental fees for students who do not own their own TI-83 or TI-84 for algebra, calculus and college math classes are $10. Italian feast and quick cooking class fees are $15 and $20 for senior iron chef and pastry 101 classes. Band and choir fees are $20 and student parking fees are set at $3.

The board approved building and fleet insurance through Ohio Casualty Insurance for $20,239. Coverage is from Sept. 1 through Sept. 1, 2012.

The board also voted to accept a $3,000 donation from JM Sports Club to the Athletic Department. Two $250 donations were also approved from Rossler Transmission and Certified Flooring Institute to the soccer team.

Wings & Wheels

The fourth annual EAA Chapter 117 Wings & Wheels Fly-in and Cruise-in is set for noon to 4 p.m. today at the New Castle Municipal Airport.

There will be a picnic and corn roast.

There also will be an FAA seminar at 11 a.m. for pilots.

The event features experimental planes, aerobatic planes, war bird replicas, light sport airplanes and gyrocopters. Titan’s T51 Scale Replica P51-Mustang will be on display. CORBI AIR Inc. will exhibit the new ALTO 100.

There will be remote-control model aerobatic demonstrations.

A car cruise, hosted by the Rapid Tappets Car Club, will feature classic, vintage, muscle, street rod, antique and special-interest domestic or import cars. There will also be a 50-50 raffle.

Gallery fundraiser

The Art Outreach Gallery at the Eastwood Mall Complex has announced a Twenty Eleven Benefit Dinner: Table Design Fundraiser to support the gallery and provide youth after-school and Saturday programs. The fundraiser will be Sept. 20 at 6 p.m. at Ciminero’s Banquet Centre on North Main Street in Niles.

Dinner tickets are $20 per person or $160 per table. Event sponsorships are $50 each.

Activities will include dinner by Ciminero’s, fashion and hairstyling show by Heads Up Hair Fashions, music by Boardman High School students, 50/50 raffle, basket-chance auction and a grand raffle donated by Jim Gallucci, owner and president of All American Taxi USA, which includes four Cleveland Browns tickets, limousine transportation to the game and breakfast at a restaurant of choice Sept. 25.
