If you’ve passed by Boardman’s Evangel Baptist church lately, you may have seen a lot of family activities taking place.

A variety of committees at the church have been formed and members have volunteered in many ways over the summer. Twenty-one members of the church recently came back from a mission trip to Honduras. Many members conducted the recent church carnival that attracted 400 people, who enjoyed a variety of activities along with complimentary hot dogs, cotton candy, popcorn and nachos and cheese. Kids of all ages enjoyed Bounce Around units and a variety of challenging games and a dunking booth.

The church’s Vacation Bible School attracted more than 100 children of all ages.

On Aug. 13, Movie Night featured the movie “Soul Surfer,” the inspiring true story of Bethany Hamilton, the young surfer who lost her arm in a shark attack and overcame all odds to become a champion again. The movie was shown on a big screen in the church parking lot.

The “Positive Impact” food pantry is nearing its third year of service and continues to provide food for around 100 families each month.

Senior pastor Randy Brunko and youth pastor Josh Williams continue to be amazed at how church members team up and cheerfully reach out to the community throughout the year.

Youth members are busy recruiting new friends to come together for a swim party on Wednesday for junior high and Sept. 1 for high school students at the home of John and Cynthia Rogers.
