Girls soccer loses to North Canton Hoover

The Fitch girls soccer team lost to North Canton Hoover 1-0. Fitch led in shots-on-goal 7-4 and corner kicks 5-4. Jessica Scott had three saves to help out her lady Falcons.

Girls tennis team loses to Jefferson

The Fitch girls tennis team lost to Jefferson 3-2 on Aug. 22. The Falcons swept the doubles matches with Nicole Wenick and Breanna Barto winning 6-3, 6-0 and Angela Murphy and Emily Wirtz winning 6-2, 6-1. Losing in singles matches were Jackie Piscalko (6-3, 6-1), Sarah Jeppeson (6-0, 6-0) and Rachal Francis (6-0, 6-0).

Girls tennis defeats Beaver Local

The Fitch girls tennis team beat Beaver Local 4-1 on Aug. 19. In singles matches, Angela Murphy won 6-4, 6-0 and Katie Klepec won 6-2, 6-3.

In doubles, Nicole Wenick and Ashley Hanuschek won 6-0, 6-1 and Emily Wirtz and Latrice Nelson won 6-0, 4-6, 6-1.

Boys golf team defeats Beaver Local

The Fitch boys golf team defeated Beaver Local 150-177. The Falcons were led by Matt Matasy with a team-best round of 35. Others scoring for Austintown were Brian Basista (38), Vince Goleno (38) and Pat Rovnak (39).

Fitch girls tennis tops Warren Harding

The Fitch girls tennis team beat Warren Harding on Aug. 18, 4-1. In singles matches, Angela Murphy won 6-0, 6-2 and Katie Klepec won 6-1, 6-0. In doubles, Nikki Wenick and Ashley Hanuschek earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory and Emily Wirtz and Sarah Kupas won 6-0, 6-0.

Community Baseball registration

Individual ticket prices for the 2011 season are $7 reserved, $6 general admission and $4 student (presale only).

Season tickets on sale for YSU football

Youngstown State football season tickets are on sale.

General admission seats are located in sections 1 and 7 of the west stands.

YSU plays six home games this fall with the opener on Sept. 10.
