Three-car crash

HOWLAND

Several people were injured, none seriously, in a three-car crash Thursday afternoon at the intersection of state Route 82 and Howland-Wilson Road. The Ohio State Highway Patrol had filed no charges in connection with the accident that occurred at 1:18 p.m. The injured were taken to Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren for treatment.

The patrol said a 2009 Toyota Corolla driven by Sally Bidlack of Vienna was eastbound on Route 82 waiting to turn left onto Howland-Wilson, and a PT Cruiser driven by Karen Burr of Cortland was westbound on Route 82 approaching the intersection of Howland-Wilson. Both vehicles entered the intersection after the traffic light had changed to red and collided as the Corolla was turning. The collision caused the PT Cruiser to crash into a 2001 Monte Carlo driven by Sarah Laukhart of Warren that was stopped southbound on Howland-Wilson.

Man pleads not guilty

Girard

A 31-year-old Girard man pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Girard Municipal Court to charges of aggravated burglary, assault and resisting arrest – causing physical harm to law enforcement.

According to a police report, Joseph Lewis, 202 Davis St., kicked open the door of 322 Taylor Ave. Wednesday morning where his child stayed. He demanded that he take his child home but appeared drunk to the first victim, a 28-year-old female, police said. She refused to let him have the child and after some arguing, a 65-year-old female emerged from the back of the home. She also refused to let Lewis take his child.

The arguing escalated until Lewis slammed the older woman into the front porch pillar, the report said.

Lewis left before the police arrived, but police found him later at his father’s home at the Davis address. In the front yard, he resisted arrest and dragged police to the ground, causing minor abrasions and damage to the police uniforms, the report said.
