GREATEST LIVE | King Conn conquers the Greatest
Josh Zarlenga and Anthony Conn probably have roommate issues to deal with like any roommates do.
After Sunday, they may have another.
Conn and Zarlenga finished in a tie Sunday in the Greatest Golfer of the Valley tourney’s toughest bracket, the Pete Mollica Open Division.
So the two went back to the No. 9 hole to settle it, and Conn’s 3-foot par putt sealed the win in the second annual all-Valley amateur golf tourney.
It was a glorious day at The Lake, albeit amid a flag at half-staff in honor of Don Pipino, former owner of The Lake Club’s predecessor, Fonderlac Country Club. He passed away Friday.
From above, he ensured great weather for the finals, and Zarlenga and Conn provided a great close, joined by Scott Porter of Tippecanoe and Greg Cook of Mahoning Country Club.
With Conn in at 222, Zarlenga, in the last group, almost holed out the final hole, the par 3 No. 9, to win the event.
He tapped in for birdie and a tie with his roommate Conn, a senior golfer at Youngstown State University.
Six other people were crowned Greatest on Sunday.
